Michael Carter-Williams, Victor Oladipo each notch triple-doubles

The two NBA rookies showed up in a big way on Tuesday with Carter-Williams getting the better of his counterpart in the win column, though both have bright futures.

Rookie guards Michael Carter-Williams and Victor Oladipo each notched their first career triple-doubles on Tuesday night as the Philadelphia 76ers defeated the Orlando Magic, 126-125, in a double overtime thriller.

Carter-Williams finished with a line of 27 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists, adding three steals in the win, and is becoming one of the brightest spots of the 2013 rookie class. Not to be outdone, Oladipo, the 2013 No. 2 overall pick for the Magic, was impressive in his own regard with 26 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists, including three steals of his own.

The Sixers are seeing relative success at 7-12 largely due to the efforts of their first-round selection in Carter-Williams, who is doing a little bit of everything to propel his team to performing beyond its measured expectations.

Oladipo has had to adjust from being a primary scorer at Indiana into a role as a facilitator at the NBA level. He's also doing damage on the defensive end by averaging 1.7 steals per game.

Both players are future cornerstones of their franchises, and they were both at their best on an evening where two of the league's young teams put on a show.
