NBA All-Star weekend arrives in just two days, with the Friday highlights including the Rising Stars Challenge and a reformatted All-Star Media Day. The general public will have access to media day for the first time ever this year, as NBA Digital will livestream the afternoon of interviews on Friday.
Starting at 1:30 p.m. ET, the Eastern Conference All-Stars will be available to the assembled press in Houston. But fans can also chime in, submitting questions via the AmEx All-Star livestream site. Fans watching the livestream will also be able to rotate and switch between four cameras, jumping from different players' sections where they're fielding questions.
The Eastern Conference All-Stars will exit around 2:15 p.m. ET, when the Western All-Stars come will come on for questions until 3 p.m. ET. In addition to the questions fans can send the players' way, there will also be a live chat throughout the two media sessions.
The NBA is definitely considered one of the most digital-friendly professional sports leagues, and this is another new wrinkle that opens up access. All-Star Weekend is the one time all year where nearly the full NBA press corps, top players, executives and management are all together in the same spot. Giving access to the fans for what was previously a closed-door event on Friday afternoon is a good way to start off a weekend.
