Josh D. Weiss-US PRESSWIRE
Josh Smith is a strong possibility to be traded, according to Yahoo! Sports.
Atlanta Hawks forward Josh Smith has been a fixture in trade rumors much of his career, but with Smith in the final year of his contract and with dwindling likelihood that he'd re-sign with the team, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports that Smith is a likely candidate to be traded before the NBA trade deadline Thursday.
"Still many involved for Atlanta's Josh Smith, including Bucks, Nets, Celtics, 76ers, Wizards, others, sources say. Strong belief he's moved," Wojnarowski tweeted.
Smith, who is making $13.2 million in the final year of his contract this season, figures to be one of the top unrestricted free agents on the market next season. Smith is averaging 16.8 points, 8.9 rebounds, 2.2 blocks and 3.9 assists per game this season while shooting 45 percent. He's one of the league's top defensive players and he's spent his entire career with the Atlanta Hawks, though he hasn't always been happy about that. Smith was suspended by the team earlier this season for conduct detrimental to the team.
