Deron Williams can't dunk because of ankle pain

USA TODAY Sports

Williams' left ankle is causing him major problems this season after he re-aggravated the injury in London.

Deron Williams continues to play through pain in his ankles that's so bad it prevents the 6'4 Brooklyn Nets guard from being able to dunk.

Williams plans to play in the Nets' return from the All-Star break on Tuesday night against the Milwaukee Bucks, but is unsure how many minutes he'll log. He underwent plasma replacement therapy during the time off, but said the effects of the procedure were minimal.

In addition to his physical issues, Williams has drawn some criticism from USA Basketball president Jerry Colangelo on his weight. According to the New York Daily News, Colangelo said that Williams showed up for Team USA basketball camp prior to the 2012 London Olympics slightly heavy, but later cleared up his statement to say that Williams was not out of shape.

In 50 games this season, Williams has averaged 16.7 points and 7.6 assists while shooting 41.3 percent from the field and 34.7 percent from the three-point line.
