The deadline is coming down to the wire and rumors are heating up between Milwaukee and Atlanta.

The Milwaukee Bucks are continuing their pursuit of Josh Smith of the Atlanta Hawks and the teams are "seriously engaged", per Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports. No word yet on possible players involved on either side, outside of Smith.

The Bucks have been chasing Smith all week and rumors have been reported on various players involved in the deal. One possibility is Bucks guard Monta Ellis who is making $11 million this season and has a player option for $11 million for the 2012-13 season.

From Dan Sinclair of Brew Hoop:

It's unclear if the restraint is coming from Milwaukee's unwillingness to part with Ellis or Atlanta's lack of interest, but the report is a departure from earlier rumors suggesting Atlanta was targeting Ellis in a deal with the Bucks.

One sticking point for the Bucks has been if they would be able to re-sign Smith after the season. Smith is set to become an unrestricted free agent after making $13.2 million this season and is likely to seek a max-contract. A report on Wed. -- by Ken Berger of CBS Sports -- indicated that Smith would be open to re-signing with Milwaukee.
