The injury occurred during the fourth quarter of Sunday's loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, when Gibson stepped on Kevin Martin's foot and his knee awkwardly twisted. He tried to play through the pain, but was clearly bothered enough to exit minutes later.

Joakim Noah, Carlos Boozer and Luol Deng have all missed time with various ailments over the past month, and Gibson's injury comes at a time when the Bulls are going through a rough stretch. They're 4-6 in their last 10 games and are lacking depth in the frontcourt as a result of the issues plaguing the team.

Potential replacements for Gibson's spot in the rotation include Vladimir Radmanovic or Nazr Mohammed.
