Kevin Garnett trade rumors: Celtics not interested in Clippers package

Mark L. Baer-USA TODAY Sports

The Celtics are not interested in the Clippers' reported offer for Kevin Garnett, which consisted of a package centered around Caron Butler and Eric Bledsoe.

Rumors were floating around Sunday that the Clippers were making a play for Kevin Garnett. But according to SB Nation's Paul Flannery, the Celtics are not interested in the Clippers' offer.

The rumor, first reported by Sporting News' Sean Deveney, had Los Angeles offering a package centered around veteran wing Caron Butler and promising young point guard Eric Bledsoe. While Bledsoe is certainly a nice chip, Flannery notes that the Celtics would want much more in return for Garnett, who helped "changed the culture" upon his arrival in Boston.

The Celtics have gone 4-0 since Rajon Rondo went down with an ACL injury, and their recent resurgence may convince management to keep the core around for another year or two. President Danny Ainge is sure to hear from a lot of teams inquiring about Garnett or Paul Pierce, and he must decide whether it's worth going for it again with this group or to sell and rebuild for the future.

It also must be noted that for any Garnett trade to go down, the big man must waive his no-trade clause. Garnett is just one of four players in the league to own a no-trade clause in his contract. One would think he would be fine going to a legitimate title contender like the Clippers, but you never know with these things.
