Brandon Jennings makes agent change months before restricted free agency

Just months before hitting restricted free agency, Bucks guard Brandon Jennings is hiring New York-based agent Jeff Schwartz. Will this impact his chances of sticking in Milwaukee for the long haul?

Milwaukee Bucks point guard and impending restricted free agent Brandon Jennings will hire New York-based agent Jeff Schwartz soon after parting with Bill Duffy recently, CBS Sports' Ken Berger reports.

Jennings, one of the big names to hit restricted free agency this summer, plans on hiring Schwartz once the NBA's mandatory 10-day waiting period for changing agents passes. Duffy confirmed in a statement to Sports Business Journal that he's no longer representing Jennings, though he says of his agency, "We wish him nothing but the best."

The hiring of Schwartz could be a bad sign for the Bucks' odds of retaining Jennings long-term, Berger writes. Schwartz is known for pushing players to big cities given the added endorsement income possibilities they provide, and the guard has been known in the past to be interested in moving on from small-market Milwaukee.

Jennings, who narrowly missed the All-Star Game cut this season, joins an impressive client list for Schwartz that also includes Kevin Love, Paul Pierce, Deron Williams, Kemba Walker, Tyson Chandler, and many other notable NBA players.
