Metta World Peace suspended 1 game for punching Brandon Knight

Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

The Lakers small forward will miss their game against the Nets on Tuesday after Sunday's dust-up.

Metta World Peace will not be in action on Tuesday night, as the Lakers forward was suspended one game for punching Brandon Knight of the Pistons in an altercation in their game on Sunday:

The incident with Knight is the latest in a long string of run-ins World Peace has had with the NBA front office, most recently a lengthy suspension at the start of last year's postseason for an elbow he landed on James Harden.

World Peace has more or less been on his best behavior in L.A., but every once in a while, he seems to lose himself in the moment, which can dangerous for everyone on the floor.

The suspension leaves the Lakers thin upfront, as Dwight Howard has already been ruled out for Tuesday's game while he recovers from his latest shoulder injury.

Silver Screen And Roll, SB Nation's Lakers blog, has more on Howard's injury here.

Mike D'Antoni will have to turn to his bench, with bigger roles for Antawn Jamison and possibly Devin Ebanks against the Nets.
