Aaron Brooks is reportedly looking to return to place where he produced the finest numbers of his career: Houston.

Aaron Brooks is "likely" to reunite with the Houston Rockets after being bought out by the Kings Friday, according to Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Rockets drafted Brooks with the 26th pick in the 2007 NBA Draft and he went on to earn the 2010 Most Improved Player award while in Houston. The Rockets then shipped to Phoenix on Feb. 24, 2011 for Goran Dragic and first round pick but apparently Brooks wasn't too offended if he's looking for a reunion.

Since averaging 19.6 points in 2010, his per game average has steadily dropped each season with his eight points per game in Sacramento this year being his worst production since his rookie campaign.

Brooks spent 2011-12 playing for the Guangdong Southern Tigers before latching on with the Kings after the Suns withdrew their qualifying offer. Sacramento decided to release Brooks Friday after the 28-year-old fell behind Isiah Thomas and Jimmer Fredette in the point guard rotation.

Brooks would take over Patrick Beverley's role behind Jeremy Lin if this deal with the Rockets comes to fruition. Brooks' arrival would also likely put a damper on the newly acquired Toney Douglas' production as well but it never hurts to have as many natural scorers off the bench as possible for the stretch run. Since Brook was released before Friday's deadline, he'll be eligible to play in the playoffs for whatever team acquires him.

UPDATE: Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports says it's a done deal.
