Lou Amundson set to leave Bulls to sign with Hornets

Greg Smith-US PRESSWIRE

The Hornets are set to sign Lou Amundson once his deal with the Bulls expires Monday.

Once his current 10-day contract with the Chicago Bulls expires Monday, big man Lou Amundson says he will leave the team to sign a 10-day contract with the New Orleans Hornets, Chris Tomasson of FOX Sports reports.

While the Bulls offered to sign Amundson to a second 10-day contract, according to K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune, it's not surprising he has opted to head elsewhere. Even with the injury to Taj Gibson, Amundson was rarely used in his stint with Chicago, playing a total of just two minutes in five games.

Since joining the league as an undrafted free agent in 2006, the 30-year-old has appeared in 309 career NBA games for seven different teams (New Orleans will be his eighth). He's averaged 3.8 points and 3.6 rebounds in 12.9 minutes per contest.
