Denver was out-scored 19-10 in the third quarter, but started the fourth on a 9-0 run to get back into it. A 17-4 run overall in the fourth quarter helped them take the lead. Mike Conley tied it for Memphis with a three-pointer with 4:52 remaining and a Tayshaun Prince jumper with four minutes left put them on top briefly, but the Nuggets went back in front on a layup by Andre Iguodala and didn't trail the rest of the way.
Kosta Koufos led the Nuggets with 18 points and 16 rebounds and Danilo Gallinari had 15 points. Corey Brewer and Andre Miller combined for 21 points off the bench.
Zach Randolph led Memphis with 18 points and 18 rebounds.
