Metta World Peace injury: Lakers forward uncertain for Wednesday vs. Timberwolves

USA TODAY Sports

After straining his left knee on Monday, World Peace becomes the latest Lakers player to flirt with the disabled list this season.

The Lakers just can't seem to catch a break this season. After just getting Pau Gasol back into the starting lineup, they now have to worry about Metta World Peace, who strained his left knee in the second quarter of their 109-103 loss to the Warriors on Monday.

World Peace did not return to the floor and will be evaluated by team doctors on Tuesday, according to a report from Mark Medina of the L.A. Daily News. His status for their game against the Timberwolves on Wednesday is uncertain.

Before the injury, World Peace had been one of the most consistent of the Lakers' aging stars this season. He's played in 70 games, with his only absence coming as the result of a one-game suspension from the NBA front office for an on-court incident with Brandon Knight.

As a result, with Mike D'Antoni forced to juggle the rotation on an almost nightly basis, L.A. has rarely been in a consistent rhythm this season. He went small with Kobe Bryant at the small forward position on Monday, but if World Peace is out for any significant amount of time, the only other true small forward on the roster is Devin Ebanks, a rarely used third-year player.
