The Los Angeles Lakers will likely be without forward Metta World Peace for the remainder of the regular season as he recovers from a torn meniscus in his left knee, Mike Bresnahan of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Speaking with reporters Wednesday, Lakers head coach Mike D'Antoni said he's not optimistic about the forward returning before the regular-season finale on April 17 against the Houston Rockets.
D'Antoni didn't mention how the injury would affect his status for the postseason, assuming L.A. makes it, but his progress in coming weeks will likely affect that.
With World Peace out of action, D'Antoni says that Jodie Meeks will take his place in the starting lineup. A shooting specialist that stands just 6'4, Meeks will give L.A. a significantly smaller opening lineup than the one featuring World Peace.
