David Lee injury: X-rays negative, MRI scheduled for Sunday

Golden State will complete further tests after big man David Lee was injured against the Nuggets.

Golden State Warriors big man David Lee will undergo an MRI on his hip Sunday after X-rays on the same area came back negative, Scott Howard-Cooper of NBA.com reports. Lee suffered an apparent hip injury in Game 1 of the Warriors' first round playoff series against the Denver Nuggets.

Early in the fourth quarter of the Nuggets' 97-95 victory, Lee collided with Denver center JaVale McGee during a drive to the basket and immediately fell to the ground grabbing his upper leg. He managed to get up afterwards and split a pair of shots at the charity stripe, but quickly went down again while jogging back on defense afterwards.

Lee eventually needed help being walked off the court by trainers before heading to the locker room.

The Warriors say that the initial diagnosis for Lee is a strained right hip flexor, an injury that could keep him out of upcoming games. Players such as Chris Paul and Josh Smith have dealt with similar injuries in the past couple years.
