A committee of NBA owners voted unanimously to recommend the impending move of the Sacramento Kings franchise to Seattle be voted down on Monday, the league announced. The news comes after months of efforts in both cities to be awarded the franchise, which the Maloof family agreed to sell earlier this year.
For Kings fans, many of whom fought valiantly through recent months with efforts such as "Here We Buy" night, this is truly a special moment. And for the passionate fans in Seattle who believed the league was finally returning NBA basketball to a city that never deserved to lose it, it's an equally sad day.
As one would imagine, those emotions of many kinds were captured on Twitter in the moments following the news breaking. Here are just some of the most notable reactions:
Heart just popped out of my chest. Eyes out of sockets. Fists through the roof. #HereWeStayed— Tom Ziller (@teamziller) April 29, 2013

For the past few months, the city of Sacramento and Kings fans across the nation rallied like few fan bases have ever before. It's nice to see the NBA recognize that.
Here they stay, indeed.
