Mario Chalmers injury: Heat guard to play limited minutes after missing three games

USA TODAY Sports

After missing three-straight games point guard Mario Chalmers will return to the Miami Heat's starting lineup, but is expected to play limited minutes.

After missing three games with a sprained ankle, Mario Chalmers will return to the Miami Heat's starting lineup Friday when they take on the Charlotte Bobcats, reports Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel. Chalmers last played during the Heat's loss to the Chicago Bulls that snapped their 27-game winning streak.

Chalmers was injured when Chris Bosh stepped on his ankle last week and has been sore since the incident. Even with their starting point guard back in the lineup, the Heat will be shorthanded when they play the Charlotte Bobcats. LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Ray Allen will all sit the game out.

While Chalmers is expected to start, Erik Spoelstra will keep his minutes limited as Chalmers is still not 100 percent, reports Winderman. The Heat's focus remains preparing for the playoffs as they are already locked into the first seed in the Eastern Conference.

Chalmers is averaging 8.5 points game game while shooting 41.3 percent from beyond the arc on the season.
