The New York Knicks extended their winning streak to 12 with a thrilling 125-120 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday. In the process, the Knicks extended their lead for the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference to 2½ games over the Indiana Pacers, who have lost two straight. Barring a collapse, New York should have little trouble nabbing that No. 2 slot.
Further down in the East, the Chicago Bulls missed an opportunity to get within one game of the Brooklyn Nets for the No. 4 seed. The Bulls lost to the Detroit Pistons, 99-85, snapping an 18-game winning streak against Detroit. Chicago was playing without Derrick Rose, Luol Deng, Richard Hamilton and Taj Gibson, while Joakim Noah and Marco Belinelli were limited in their return to the lineup from injuries. The Bulls remain one game ahead of the Atlanta Hawks for the No. 5 seed.
Finally, the Boston Celtics got back on the winning track with a 107-96 victory over the Washington Wizards. The Celtics are currently in the No. 7 slot, 1½ games behind the Hawks.
