Gentry and the Phoenix Suns mutually parted ways in the middle of this season after starting the year 13-28. He has compiled a career record of 335-370 in 12 seasons. He has made the playoffs just twice as a head coach, with the most recent visit coming in 2010 when the Suns made it to the Western Conference Finals.
In addition to Gentry, recently fired Cavaliers coach Byron Scott is a candidate for the Clippers job, as is Warriors assistant Michael Malone. The Clippers are reportedly first trying to lure one of the big-name candidates, including Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins, Pacers assistant Brian Shaw and both Van Gundy brothers.
Hollins and Shaw will not talk to teams until their respective seasons are over, while it's looking unlikely that either of the Van Gundy's will get back into coaching next season.
