Grizzlies will allow Lionel Hollins to talk with other teams, according to report

Lionel Hollins could leave Memphis after a successful run as other teams court the respected coach.

The Memphis Grizzlies have given head coach Lionel Hollins permission to speak with other teams, according to Yahoo! Sports Adrian Wojnarowski. Hollins' contract with the Grizzlies expires on June 30, leaving his status with the franchise uncertain.

Hollins has been the head coach of the Grizzlies since 2009. This season, the Grizzlies finished fifth in the Western Conference with a 56-26 record before being swept by the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference finals. Hollins has served as Grizzlies head coach in three separate stints and compiled a 214-201 coaching record overall.

Grizzly Bear Blues: More on the Hollins decision

While Hollins has maintained his preference is to remain with the Grizzlies, the two sides have been unable to reach an agreement after several days of discussions. The sides have not seriously discussed finances and are in disagreement over "major philosophical differences", Wojnarowski reports.

Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports previously reported that the Los Angeles Clippers and Brooklyn Nets will reach out to Hollins as they look to fill their own coaching vacancies. Either opening could appeal to the coach if he's ready to part ways.
