NBA Draft 2013: Grizzlies trade Darrell Arthur and 55th pick for Kosta Koufos

Ronald Martinez

The Memphis Grizzlies sent Darrell Arthur and the 55th pick in Thursday night's NBA Draft to the Denver Nuggets for Kosta Koufos.

The Memphis Grizzlies made a big move on Thursday afternoon when they announced Dave Joerger as the team's new head coach. They made a not-quite-as-big of a deal on Thursday night by striking a trade with the Denver Nuggets.

The Grizzlies will send Darrell Arthur and the 55th pick in this year's draft to the Nuggets for center Kosta Koufos. Memphis still has control of the 41st and 60th picks thanks to previous trades with the Toronto Raptors and Miami Heat respectively.

Arthur has suffered through a few injuries over the last couple of years and was used very sparingly during the 2013 NBA Playoffs. He averaged 6.1 points and 2.9 rebounds in just over 16 minutes per game with the Grizzlies this past season.

Koufos started 81 games for the Nuggets last season ahead of JaVale McGee. In just over 22 minutes per game, Koufos averaged 8.0 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in Denver after bouncing around with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Utah Jazz earlier in his career.
