Harrington was working under a partially guaranteed contract, according to ShamSports.com. The remaining $14.7 million on his contract over the next two seasons was 50 percent guaranteed, and the contract stipulated no guarantee date.
Harrington landed with the Magic last offseason as part of the four-team deal that sent Dwight Howard to the Los Angeles Lakers. He played in a mere 10 games last season because of a staph infection in his knee that prevented him from debuting until February. He averaged 5.1 points in 11.9 minutes per game in his 10 games as a member of the Magic.
Harrington was effective his last full season, averaging 14.2 points as a reserve for the Denver Nuggets in 2011-12.
Over the course of his 15-year NBA career, Harrington has played for the Indiana Pacers, the Atlanta Hawks, the Golden State Warriors, New York Knicks, the Nuggets and the Magic. The 6'9 veteran turns 34 in February.
