Afrobasket's host country headlined action Saturday as half of the knockout stage was set.

Half of the knockout stage bracket was set at the FIBA Africa tournament Saturday, as Group A and Group C finished up their portions of the round-robin stage. The action didn't feature as much top talent as Sunday's group play will, but the games were largely competitive as teams prepared for the knockout stage.

Cape Verde 65, Mozambique 53: Cape Verde finished second in Group C with the win over Mozambique. Neither team shot well from the field, but Cape Verde took advantage of its 47-37 rebounding edge to secure the victory.

Pio da Silva Matos was Mozambique's only scorer in double figures, finishing with 12 points and four rebounds. Mozambique finished 1-2 and third place in Group C.

Senegal 62, Algeria 57: Senegal clinched the No. 2 seed out of Group A with a 62-57 win over Algeria, dominating the second and third quarters and creating enough space to hold off a late Algeria push.

Senegal, which shot 39 percent from the floor, held a steady lead between eight and 12 points throughout most of the third quarter, but Algeria closed the gap to as few as two points on a pair of Mohamed Harat free throws with 1:07 left in the game.

The following possession, Maleye Ndoye hit a 3-pointer to give Senegal a 60-55 lead that Algeria would not overcome.

Ivory Coast 69, Egypt 62: Ivory Coast finished group play undefeated and clinched Group A with a seven-point win over Egypt, despite a strong performance from Egyptian forward Assem Marei.

Marei, a 6'9 forward who plays college ball for Division II Minnesota State, had 25 points and 19 rebounds and shot 10-19 from the floor. Ivory Coast was lead by Mamadou Lamizana, who finished with 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting.

Egypt was 0-3 in the group stage and finished fourth in Group A.

Angola 85, Central African Republic 80: Angola finished off an impressive run through Group C on Saturday with a five-point win over the Central African Republic.

Carlos Morais led Angola with a well-rounded effort, recording 18 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists in the win. He only shot 6-15 from the field, but his teammates chipped in with a great outside shooting performance, combining to go 23-41 from beyond the arc.

Angola finished 3-0, tops in Group C. Central African Republic finished 0-3.
