There are still 10 spots up for grabs, and the next six will soon be determined upon the conclusion of EuroBasket 2013. Spain automatically gets a bid for hosting the World Cup, so if they finish in the top six at EuroBasket, the seventh-place team also will nab a slot. Monday marks the last day of the first round at EuroBasket, with the second round tipping off on Wednesday.
Four invited "wildcard" teams will round out the 24-team World Cup field. The tournament will begin Aug. 30, 2014, and run for two weeks. The United States will enter as the defending champion, having beaten Turkey in the final of the 2010 FIBA World Championship.
