Thunder vs. Nuggets recap: Denver smokes Oklahoma City from beyond the arc in blowout

Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Spor

The Nuggets couldn't be stopped from three-point land as they dropped 14 threes on the Westbrook-less Thunder.

The Oklahoma City Thunder couldn't keep the Denver Nuggets at bay from three Thursday night as they lost their third in five games, 101-88. Randy Foye put on an absolute show from beyond the arc, knocking down six threes and finishing with 24 points.

Kevin Durant has been scoring in bunches in the last five games, averaging 32.6 points and 5.2 assists per contest entering Thursday. He came out firing against the Nuggets, racking up 24 points in the first half. Durant's scoring aside, Denver held the rest of the Thunder to 36 percent from the field in the first half and took a lead, 60-51, into the third quarter.

Denver poured it on to open the third quarter, widening their lead as the Thunder failed to work together on the offensive end of the floor. Kevin Durant had to do it all, and it wasn't a good look for head coach Scott Brooks. The Nuggets were on fire from beyond the arc and their three-point shooting allowed them a large lead going into the fourth.

Oklahoma City couldn't catch back up to the Nuggets, who shot 45 percent on three-pointers for the game. Meanwhile, Kevin Durant was on the bench early in the fourth quarter and Denver came away with a blowout win at home.

For the Thunder, Kevin Durant scored 30 points on 7-of-18 shooting, adding four assists. Serge Ibaka had eight points on 3-of-11 shooting including 10 rebounds. The Thunder barely broke double-digit assists as a team with 11.

Randy Foye was unstoppable from long range, scoring 24 points on 7-of-11 shooting, including 6-of-9 from deep. Ty Lawson had 16 points on 6-of-15 shooting, adding a game-high 14 assists. Kenneth Faried finished with 14 rebounds while J.J. Hickson grabbed 12 boards of his own.

The win moves Denver to 18-17 on the season, firmly in ninth place in the Western Conference. Oklahoma City drops to 27-9, tying them with the Portland Trail Blazers.
