Heat vs. Nets final score: Brooklyn surprises with double-OT win, 104-95

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

The Nets outlasted Miami for their fifth consecutive victory.

Joe Johnson scored 32 points, Shaun Livingston delivered a double-double and the Brooklyn Nets surprised the Miami Heat with a 104-95 double-overtime victory on Friday night. It's the team's fifth straight victory.

Rocking the nickname jerseys that garnered so much unnecessary attention in recent days, the two teams played the kind of intense game we would've expected entering the season. After LeBron James fouled out late in the first overtime, the Nets took over the second extra period, outscoring the Heat 11-2.

James had been playing fantastic before recording his sixth foul, leading Miami back from a 14-point deficit in the second half to force overtime. He finished with 36 points, seven rebounds and five assists, but this is the first time he's fouled out of a regular season game since April 2, 2008.

After James left the game, Norris Cole hit a big jumper with three seconds left to force the second overtime, but Miami quickly lost its momentum from there. Without James, who still played 49 minutes, the Heat managed to go nearly the entire five-minute period without scoring a bucket.

Wearing "S Dot" on the back of his jersey, Livingston put up one of his best career games in place of Deron Williams. Filling up the box score with 19 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and three blocks, he also played a team-leading 51 minutes and helped lead the final charge that put Miami away.

Paul Pierce added 23 points on 7-of-17 shooting in the win. Kevin Garnett had 12 points and 10 rebounds.
