Metta World Peace injury: Knicks forward undergoes knee procedure

Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

Metta World Peace will likely miss two weeks, though he believes he could return sooner because "most sexy people heal fast."

New York Knicks forward Metta World Peace underwent platelet-rich plasma treatment on his ailing left knee and is expected to be out at least two weeks, according to ESPN New York.

In addition to the procedure, World Peace received injections in both of his knees and said that he wants to take ample time to recover after describing the feeling in his legs as "good" but "weird" after the procedures.

The 14-year veteran has been a minor role player in the Knicks' rotation in his first season with his hometown team. World Peace is averaging career lows in nearly every major statistical category. As he battles injuries and age, World Peace has posted averages of 5.5 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 15 minutes per game.

World Peace gave a detailed account of his prognosis as only he could:

"I heal faster than some young guys which is crazy," he said. "I am not on HGH. You can test me. Like Floyd Mayweather said, ‘I'll take the test.' I don't do that stuff.

"I guess because I am sexy," he explained. "Most sexy people heal fast. It's true. It's a fact. Do your research. Do your research on if I am sexy or not."
