Heat, Clippers among teams interested in Andrew Bynum, according to report

David Richard-USA TODAY Sports

Andrew Bynum may have found his way out of an NBA job, but plenty of teams are expected to court him once he clears waivers.

The Chicago Bulls waived Andrew Bynum Tuesday and once the big man clears waivers he'll have no shortage of suitors. Eight teams are interested in courting Bynum once he becomes a free agent, according to ESPN's Chris Broussard. He is expected to have multiples deals on the table from "upper-tier" teams that can provide him with both minutes and above league minimum salary, according to ESPN's Marc Stein. Bynum clears waivers at 5 p.m. ET on Thursday.

The Los Angeles Clippers and Miami Heat are two teams with a high-level of interest in Bynum, according to Broussard. The Clippers have used both Ryan Hollins and Byron Mullens to play backup center minutes behind DeAndre Jordan, though they can only offer the veteran's minimum to Bynum.

The Heat reached for frontcourt help by signing Greg Oden this summer, though he has not played during the regular season. Miami still has mid-level exception money they can use to sign a free agent, though it's unclear if they'd be willing to risk adding another center with a history of injuries.

Bynum averaged 8.4 points and 5.3 rebounds per game with the Cleveland Cavaliers after missing the entire 2012-2013 season. The Heat, Clippers and Dallas Mavericks have been linked as three of the eight teams interested in signing Bynum, though it's unclear which other teams could be in the hunt in taking a chance on the former All-Star center.
