Good morning, the NBA playoffs are totally bonkers

There is no quarter from the insanity. Isn't it grand?

Good morning. Let's basketball.

GOOD LORD: What a postseason. As Paul Flannery wrote in his awesome state of the playoffs piece, the future of the NBA is here, and it looks amazing.

Memphis was doing their thing, taking care of business at home. They led by 17 in the fourth. Then OKC went on a 17-0 run to tie it in the fourth. A Russell Westbrook 4-point play sent it to OT ... where the Grizz retook control and won. The Thunder are down 2-1. What a game!

Clippers-Warriors was just as special. L.A. controlled much of the game as the Warriors couldn't toss a penny through a hula hoop from long-range. Blake Griffin was unstoppable. But then Klay and Curry happened, and Golden State got to within one four minutes to go before L.A. went on a 7-0 to retake control and eventually win.

There's some controversy about a no-call on CP3 on Curry's game-winning attempt at the buzzer; to me, it was too close to make that call. Clips lead 2-1.

Hawks-Pacers wasn't compelling in the traditional sense, unless you enjoy watching trainwrecks. If so, the Pacers are your bag. Hawks lead 2-1.

TONIGHT: More fun.

Raptors at Nets, 7 p.m. ET, ESPN2
Bulls at Wizards, 8 p.m. ET, ESPN <-- the atmosphere is going to be insane
Rockets at Blazers, 10:30 p.m. ET, ESPN <-- the atmosphere is going to be insane

Seriously, the home crowds in those two ESPN games are going to be ridiculously juiced. The crowd in Brooklyn will be mocking Drake by vigorously lint-rolling their pants, will be hiding from BrooklyKnight or will be rap royalty. So: also awesome, but in a different, less head-splitting way.

INNOVATION: Kendrick Perkins shows us the future of screens: sitting on an opponent. (Be sure to check out the brilliant postcard at that link.)

#ATLSHAWTY: In the latest episode of NBA Y2K, Jon Bois recruited OutKast and the Dungeon Family to help the Hawks drop 404 points on the Pacers. Did it work, or did Andre 3000 quit in the third quarter to take up cricket? FIND OUT.

FREE LEGAL ADVICE FOR THE NCAA: Don't collude with the NBA to keep legal adults from getting paid to play basketball.

THE SHOT DOCTOR: Dope Bill Barnwell profile on Spurs' assistant Chip Engelland, who helps make all those outcasts look awesome in San Antonio.

HOW THE PACERS WILL FALL APART NEXT.

ELEPHANT DRAGIC: In 2009, then-ESPN columnist John Hollinger called Goran Dragic one of the league's worst players. Dragic cited that as motivation yesterday when accepting his Most Improved Player award. Man, I'm never saying anything about him again.

HOW NENE IS DESTROYING THE BULLS.

DOUBTING THE CONFIDENCE: The Thunder believe they will come back to win their series. Darnell Mayberry points out that OKC has lost three of the four series it trailed 2-1.

TRAILER FOR THE IVERSON DOC. TRAILER FOR THE IVERSON DOC. TRAILER FOR THE IVERSON DOC.

OH: It appears Phil Jackson, who makes $12 million, or about $4-5 million more than any other GM, will be asking 'Melo to take less than the max to remain in New York.

REMEMBERING A MAJOR TRADE: Jerry Reynolds talks about the trade he made for Mitch Richmond back in 1991.

GREATNESS: LaMarcus Aldridge now has two straight 40-point playoff games. How many did, say, Jordan, rack up?

Happy Friday. (Friday!) See you next time.
