Utah Jazz select Dante Exum with 5th pick in 2014 NBA Draft

The Utah Jazz have a backcourt mate, or replacement, for Trey Burke with Australian PG Dante Exum.

Dante Exum, perhaps the most mysterious lottery pick of the 2014 NBA Draft, wasn't mysterious enough to drop far, as the Utah Jazz selected him with the No. 5 pick.

The Jazz drafted point guard Trey Burke last year, but now have another guard to play alongside him. Exum has repeatedly stated that he is a point guard, but the Jazz will likely run a dual point guard system similar to what the Phoenix Suns did last season.

Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, Exum is one of the youngest players in the draft and won't turn 19 until July. He is the son of American parents but has remained out of the spotlight, having not played much against American competition.

But when he has, Exum has excelled. In the 2013 Nike Hoops Summit, Exum joined a team that included fellow lottery pick Andrew Wiggins to beat Team USA, which was led by 2014 draftees Aaron Gordon and Julius Randle, by a 112-98 final score. In that game, Exum scored 16 points in 22 minutes, lending more credibility to his quickly rising draft stock. Exum also excelled playing for Australia in FIBA U-17 and U-19 play.

Exum stands 6'6 and nearly 200 pounds, but NBA teams could use him as the bigger guard in a dual point guard backcourt.
