The Toronto Raptors made the biggest shocker pick so far in the 2014 NBA Draft, drafting 6'9 Brazilian Bruno Caboclo with the 20th pick in the first round.
The Caboclo pick was so out of left field, the only video footage ESPN had was grainy YouTube footage. Zapruder-ian gametape aside, ESPN's international basketball scout Fran Fraschilla had a feeling Caboclo would be drafted. Frischilla said some call Caboclo "the Brazilian Kevin Durant," but added he "doesn't really know how to play yet." He seems incredibly raw, and Fraschilla made it sound like (in the Vine below) we won't be seeing him in the NBA for a while.
Caboclo is the youngest player in the draft at 18 years old (his birthday is Sept. 21), he's 200 pounds and there's very little information in the States about him. Caboclo didn't work out for any team, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.
DraftExpress has some video of him, but there's not much. DX's scouting report says athleticism is his strength, adding that he "moves really well for his size. Runs the floor. Can finish above the rim due to his length, leaping ability."
