Chandler Parsons has free agent options beyond the Rockets

Andrew Richardson-USA TODAY Sports

The Houston Rockets didn't pick up their option on Chandler Parsons' contract, but they want him back. The T-Wolves, Lakers, Bulls and Mavericks could be among his suitors.

The Houston Rockets declined to pick up forward Chandler Parsons' team option for next season that is worth $964,750, but they certainly want him back, according to Yahoo! Sports' Marc J. Spears.  Parsons will be a restricted free agent, allowing the Rockets to match any offer sheet thrown at him.

They can also go over the salary cap to do so, as they own Parsons' Bird rights since drafting him 38th overall in 2011.

But there will surely be other teams chasing after the Houston small forward, who averaged a well-rounded 16.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and four assists per game in 2013-14.

Spears reports that the Minnesota Timberwolves will have interest in the swingman out of Florida, especially if the Kevin Love trade talks with the Golden State Warriors break down. Minnesota badly wants Warriors guard Klay Thompson, but if those talks never ramp up again, team president Flip Saunders could begin discussing a sign-and-trade with Houston that is built around the swap of Love and Parsons.

The Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks and Chicago Bulls could look to sign Parsons outright if they aren't successful in wooing free agent Carmelo Anthony or any of the other big-name free agents. The same could be said for Houston, of course. General manager Daryl Morey can make a run at Anthony and needs to open up all the cap space he can manage.

Don't feel bad for Parsons being the backup plan for so many teams. He's due a massive pay raise from his current deal and considering his production and age 25, he is widely considered a top-10 free agent available this summer.
