Heat offer Chris Bosh 5-year, maximum contract, according to report

The Heat have lost one member of the "Big Three" but are fighting to keep Chris Bosh.

Update: Bosh, Miami finalizing 5-year contract

The Miami Heat have lost LeBron James in free agency, but they are still "fighting" to re-sign Chris Bosh, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo SportsBosh is reportedly close to signing a maximum contract with the Houston Rockets, but Miami is pushing to keep its frontcourt anchor for four straight NBA Finals runs in South Beach. The Heat have offered Bosh a five-year, maximum-level contract to stay in Miami, according to NBA.com reporter David Aldridge.

The Heat have verbal agreements with Danny Granger and Josh McRoberts, but didn't angle for any big splash signings while they waited for James to make his decision. James leaving for the Cleveland Cavaliers opened a maximum contract slot which can now shift over to Bosh.

It's unclear if Dwyane Wade intends to return to Miami, and the Chicago Bulls have emerged as an interested suitor in the free agent shooting guard since James made his decision. Bosh will have to decide between re-signing with a rebuilding Heat, or joining a Rockets team that should be a serious contender in the Western Conference.
