Recap: Golden State vs. Indiana

Sports Network | December 1, 2009

Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - Monta Ellis had a career night, going 15-of-27 from the field and hitting 14-of-16 free throws en route to 45 points, as Golden State pulled away late to top Indiana, 126-107.

"Actually my wife asked me to get 50 tonight, I was pulling for it," said Ellis. "But we all know what happened at the end. I didn't know I had five fouls...kind of snuck on me a little. When I fouled out, she said '45 and win is cool with me' so I'm happy."

Anthony Morrow and CJ Watson added 18 points apiece for Golden State, which had lost two straight and five of the last seven games. Corey Maggette provided 14 points, six assists and six rebounds.

Danny Granger and Mike Dunleavy each posted 22 points, and Dahntay Jones scored 21 for the Pacers, who have lost six of their last seven games. T.J. Ford chipped in 17 points, six boards and four assists.

The Warriors carried a hot hand into the fourth quarter and turned a two-point edge into a 97-85 lead with a 12-2 stretch. Ellis scored the first seven points to help carry the surge and his two free throws minutes later had the hosts holding a 15-point lead with close to seven minutes left.

A Granger three cut the lead under double digits at 106-97 with 5 1/2 minutes to play, but Maggette scored the next six points and hit a basket with 1:47 to go for a 119-103 margin. The lead went unchallenged from there.

Indiana held an eight-point lead after the opening 12 minutes. It could have been worse if not for Ellis being on the floor for Golden State as he poured in 18 of the hosts' 25 points.

The Pacers scored the first six points of the second quarter to take a 39-25 lead before the Warriors ripped off an ensuing 16-3 stretch to get within one on Morrow's three-pointer.

Indiana got its lead back to six, 57-51, at the break and a 9-2 run capped by Jeff Foster's bucket to open the second half, pushed the advantage to 66-53.

Morrow's triple began a 14-4 run for the Warriors and a Maggette jumper got the score to 76-74 with 3:47 left. A quick 7-0 burst to cap the frame provided an 85-83 Golden State lead on Morrow's jumper.

"It's not just defense, it's all aspects of the game," Pacers forward Mike Dunleavy said when asked about why the Pacers are losing. "It's taking care of the ball, taking good shots and having composure. We just didn't do enough tonight. When they went on a run in the third quarter we folded like a deck of cards. It's too bad."
