There are no good losses. Let's get that out of the way right up front. Winning is always preferable to winning, in particular (and we are into Captain Obvious territory here) in the playoffs. With that said, there are some losses that you can use for motivation and teaching. In fact, I'd argue that you can learn from any loss.
There was much talk about a sweep of the Magic going into Game 4. Unfortunately, all it was was talk, as the Magic defeated the Celtics 96-92, forcing Game 5 on Wednesday night.
OPP recaps the Orlando Magic's 96-92 overtime win over the Boston Celtics in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals, which helped Orlando avoid a sweep. Dwight Howard scored 32 points, grabbed 16 rebounds, and blocked 4 shots, while Jameer Nelson scored 23 points and hit two huge three-pointers in overtime to key Orlando.
Hats off to the Magic. Lesser teams would have given up and gone home. Howard, Nelson, and the rest of the Magic showed up and sent it back to Orlando.

The Orlando Magic face a 3-0 deficit in the Eastern Conference Finals, from which no team has ever recovered. Tonight in Boston, the Celtics can put the Magic out of their misery. Might that outcome be preferable to the alternative, which is Orlando winning, the series shifting to Amway Arena for Game 5, and the Celtics closing the building with a Magic loss there?

The Celtics are making a habit out of making teams give up. I think it is time to start giving the Celtics their due respect for their part in that.
