The Orlando Magic may have recalled Daniel Orton from his D-League assignment with the New Mexico Thunderbirds, Orlando Pinstriped Post has learned, but has yet to confirm. Widespread illness on the big-league club could be a reason for bringing the rookie center back.
An Orlando Magic beat writer reports that a stomach virus has also claimed Jameer Nelson and J.J. Redick, making them unavailable for tonight's game against the Milwaukee Bucks. They're on their way back to Orlando; Dwight Howard and Mickael Pietrus left the team last night for the same reason.
Despite missing four players due to a stomach flue, and losing a fifth to a sprained foot, the Orlando Magic easily took care of the Detroit Pistons, 104-91, on Friday night behind 25 points from Vince Carter and a career-high 27 from Brandon Bass.
