Power rankers John Schuhmann and Marc Stein aren't that impressed with the Nets' new found success. After all, they note, their two wins came against one of the five teams with a worse record.
When the Nets played the Raptors this weekend, scattered around the O2 Arena were stars of the British Premier League, soccer's most starstruck. It was no accident. Its worldwide presence, led by Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea, is a model for Mikhail Prokhorov in his desire to build the Nets into the world's team.
Mikhail Prokhorov and the player he's said he'll make "king of he world, the first truly global basketball player" met prior to the Nets-Raptors triple overtime game in London. It was the second meeting between the Nets' owner and Deron Williams.
In an interview with Pedro Pinto of CNN International, Mikhail Prokhorov says that he is willing to forsake of his original goal of making the playoffs this season as part of a longer term championship strategy.
Ben Uzoh didn't play this weekend, with Sundiata Gaines taking his minutes. How long will he be on the bench? With Avery Johnson, you never know, but his substitution patterns this weekend worked well. Gaines for Anthony Morrow, Travis Outlaw for Travis Outlaw. But Uzoh has a special connection to Johnson.

With none of the Nets beat reporters in Merry Olde England, there's not been a lot of news about player views on Mikhail Prokhorov's plans for a global team (and for making his superstar "King of the World, the first truly global basketball player"). But ESPN and the players' official sites have tried to fill the gap. So far they like the idea.
