Phoenix Suns Fall To The New Jersey Nets Without Steve Nash Or Grant Hill; Lose 110-103
The Nets' hot shooting from 3-point range continued in Phoenix on Friday. And this time, it actually carried them to their third win of the season, a 110-103 victory over the Suns. Deron Williams led the way with 35 points and 14 assists.
Nets 54, Suns 51 at the half.
Oh wow, it's Friday the 13th. What could go wrong? Hold your tongue! The Nets go into Phoenix in hopes of turning around a bad stretch particularly on defense. As Fred Kerber reports, "Offensively, the Nets have been reborn. The 3-point shot has become a weapon to be feared (56-of-121, .463). They have averaged more than 100 points (100.8). A veritable irresistible force, of sorts" But on defense?
The Nets didn't practice Thursday. It was not a reward, just a concession to the schedule...and injuries. They will play Friday vs. the Suns, Saturday vs. the Jazz, then early Monday afternoon vs. the Clippers, all of them on the road.
