The Nets' offense finally showed some life on Friday in Atlanta, but it wasn't enough, as they fell to the Hawks for the second time in four days, 105-98. The Nets shot 46 percent from the field and hit nine of their 20 threes. But Atlanta shot 48 percent and got to the line 38 times.

The Magic remain convinced that they can convince Dwight Howard to remain in Orlando and have told teams who want to pursue him they will wait till near the trade deadline to move him. They need time. Also, they don't want to see him in another team's uniform when the All-Star Game comes to Orlando in late February. It would ruin the "celebration."

The Hawks are 2-0, with an average margin of victory of 32 points. They haven't been behind in 96 minutes of play and exude a confidence that they can play with the big boys in the East. But their wins have come against the Nets and Wizards, two teams dealing with early struggles.

The Atlanta Hawks captured their second straight win of the season with a 101-83 victory over the Washington Wizards. Marvin Williams was solid yet again finishing with 17 points and eight rebounds.
