Will this be a showdown between two of the NBA's top rookies? Could be if Marshon Brooks, a game time decision again, can get beyond the pain in his Achilles tendon. Kyrie Irving is the only rookie scoring better than Brooks, 16.8 to 15.2, but Irving is also averaging 4.9 assists. More importantly, can the Nets put together back-to-back wins for the first time this season?

In a less than impressive effort, the Sixers dropped one at home to the Nets.

Behind a huge game from Deron Williams, the Nets got their biggest win of the season Wednesday night in Philadelphia, beating the Sixers (previously 8-1 at home), 97-90, in overtime.

The Sixers host the New Jersey Nets tonight. It should be another easy win for the home team.

Sometimes, it's best when you do nothing. That seems to be one lesson from the 76ers' strong start. Rod Thorn did little over the off-season other than draft Nikola Vucevic and dump Marreese Speights, giving his team both stability and solid chemistry when games finally began. The result is the fourth best record in the NBA at the quarter pole.
