Gaines Continues Consistent Play

Of all the overseas leagues where once and future Nets are playing this season, the Georgian Superleague is probably the weakest, with the Euroleague where Jordan Farmar and Bojan Bogdanovic compete the strongest. Still, Sundiata Gaines keeps playing with admirable consistency in the tiny nation at the east end of the Black Sea.

D-Will Bests Yatta in EuroChallenge

It's not the NBA and it's even the Euroleague, but Deron Williams scored 31 points and handed out six assists as Besiktas beat Sundiata Gaines' B.C. Armia by 21 in Istanbul Tuesday. Gaines had 13 and 8 in the EuroChallenge game. It was Besiktas' 12th straight win and stopped Armia's five game streak.

Gaines Does Well in Shortened Game

Details are sketchy and our Georgian is rusty, but it appears some sort of altercation shortened B.C. Armia's game with Tbilisi State University Saturday, but Sundiata Gaines' Armia came away with a two-point win and he played another solid game, scoring 13 points on 4-for-10 shooting and handing out five assists.

Now It's Time For Gaines To Adjust

Sundiata Gaines became the latest and last Net to make his overseas debut Saturday, and like his teammates, he's found there's a period of adjustment. Gaines scored six points on 2 for 8 shooting as his B.C. Armia opened its defense the Georgian Superleague title with a blowout win over Dinamo Tbilisi.

Has D-Will Experiment Failed?

The headline in Istanbul's leading newspaper was definitive: "Beşiktaş’s high hopes collapse in epic fashion". Hurriyet left little doubt about where those "high hopes" had lain. "Deron Williams failed to save Beşiktaş Milangaz from the first major shock of the European basketball season as the team was knocked out of the Eurocup..."

Globalization This Week

Deron Williams arrived in Istanbul this week and Sundiata Gaines signed with B.C. Armia of Georgia, but that wasn't (officially) part of the Nets globalization agenda, although it can't hurt to have six Nets in big roles overseas. The big event on the official globalization agenda this week was the Moscow charity game featuring Mikhail Prokhorov
