2 NBA Training Camp Rosters Include Plenty From The D-League

I originally planned on there being somewhere in the neighborhood from 25 to 45 players from the NBA Development League in an NBA training camp when they opened this week. Turns out I was low, however, as there are 55 players in camp that were called up from the D-League for their shot at the NBA.

Blake Ahearn will attend training camp with the Washington Wizards Los Angeles Clippers after playing for Team USA at the Pan-Am Games.

7 NBA D-League Season Begins, Reno Bighorns Drop Opening Two Games

The Atlanta Hawks D-League affiliate the Reno Bighorns dropped their first two games of the 2011-12 regular season. Point guard Blake Ahearn is tied for the league lead in scoring at 28 points a game.

Justin Dentmon, along with Team USA running mates Lance Thomas and Leo Lyons, will lead the top-ranked Austin Toros this season.

USA Vs. Brazil Basketball On ESPN: Players To Watch At The Pan-Am Games

Men's basketball actually began on Wednesday at the Pan-Am Games, but Team USA's victory over the Dominican Republic seemed to be overlooked by my basketball loving brethren. Thursday night's game for the USA, made up of players signed to play in the NBA Development League this season, should get a bit more publicity however as the game against Brazil will be played live on ESPN2.

Skilled, with soft hands for a near-7-footer. Possesses range on his jumper out to the arc. Uses his huge wingspan to corral rebounds and block some shots, and is pretty mobile for a big man.

Flaws

Despite a huge, long frame he lacks bulk. He could make better use of his reach for more low-post production (including more put-backs, rebounds, and blocks). Could be more of a passer.

Career Potential

All-round solid backup center.
