Shelden Williams and his wife, WNBA great Candace Parker, have a three-year-old daughter, Lailaa, who's a bit of a basketball celebrity herself. As ESPN-W reports, she often thinks those autograph seekers pursuing Mom in L.A. or Ekaterinaburg or Dad in New Jersey also would like to meet her as well. So, she often offers her hand as a greeting.
Deron Williams' sore calf won't permit him to play vs. the Bucks Saturday night, and Shelden Williams (hyper-extended knee) remains questionable, driving the Nets' missed games up to 237, 238 if Shelden Williams can't play. As Fred Kerber tweets, that's 3.7 missed players per game. With two games left after Milwaukee, the number will exceed 240. The Nets missed 129 games in an 82-game season last year.
Nets 49, Pacers 43 at the half. Shelden Williams was poked in the eye early in the second quarter and is done for the night.
In the latest edition of "Blindsided", Jordan Farmar takes teammate Shelden Williams to an unconventional yoga instructor. What happens next, which includes wheat grass, instruction in the art of flatulence and an encounter with a boa constrictor named Tinkerbelle really defies further description.
Avery Johnson said Friday that recalling rookie Jordan Williams from the D-League was "something we've discussed." No wonder. The Nets dressed 10 players against the Cavaliers and although Shelden Williams played well, he's troubled by a sore wrist. Bringing Williams back would seem simple. He's only 150 miles away.
It's getting a lot of attention with some calling it the early favorite for NBA Photo of the Year and others seeing it as nothing more than another indication of the Nets' long-running status as a basketball joke: Julio Cortez's great photograph of a ball hitting Shelden Williams square in the face following what was a thunderous dunk.
Adrian Wojnarowski reports that the Nets are about to sign Kris Humphries to a one-year deal. The deal is so close (and apparently he is too) that he may be ready for Wednesday's final preseason game vs. the Knicks at Madison Square Garden. Earlier in the day, reports had Hump resigning for between $7 million and $9 million for the year.
Brook Lopez still reads newspapers, but stops when he gets to the sports section. He doesn't want the distraction of reading where he may or may not be headed. "I’ve done all I could do. It’s out of my control," said Lopez. "Even before all the trade talk, just take it one day at a time. Learn what I can from it and go on."
"Shw" is the abbreviation the NBA uses to distinquish Shawne Williams from Shelden "Shl" Williams in boxscores when the they've played against each other. Nets might be using both those abbreviations in boxscores every night. Al Iannazzone tweets that the Nets remain "very much in play" for the Knicks' three-point specialist.
2011 NBA Draft: Jimmer Fredette Makes Sense For Nets, Not Knicks
Another problematic loss to a below-.500 team.
