Sasha Vujacic scored 21 points and Jordan Farmar 19 in their first face-off since Farmer joined the Lakers five years ago, Farmar came away with the win in a vital Euroleague game for both their teams. Both made six field goals, but Farmar only needed 10 shots, Vujacic 17.
In keeping with the success of European teams led by Nets point guards, Maccabi Tel Aviv easily defeated another Israeli League opponent, Maccabi Ashdod, by 29 on Sunday. Jordan Farmar finished with 10 points, three rebounds and two assists in limited minutes. Maccabi Coach David Blatt played mostly Israeli players, giving his international charges time off.
Jordan Farmar scored 14 points and handed out seven assists as Maccabi Tel Aviv beat Partizan of Belgrade for the second time in three days ... but in different leagues. On Thursday, Maccabi beat Partizan in a Euroleague matchup while Saturday's win was in Adriatic League play.
Jordan Farmar played only six minutes in Maccabi Tel Aviv's Israeli League opener Sunday. Maccabi defeated Gilboa/Galil, 90-65, and then traveled to Milan for their first Euroleague game Thursday. Maccabi, Bojan Bogdanovic's Fenerbahce and Sasha Vujacic's Efes Anadolu are all considered contenders.
Bojan Bogdanovic played a little more than half the game Saturday, scoring 13 points on 4-for-7 shooting as Fenerbahce won its first regular season game by 25 points over Trabzonspor. Bogdanovic who played 21 out of 40 minutes also grabbed two rebounds and handed out an assist.
Bojan Bogdanovic played only 22 minutes Friday in Fenebahce's blowout win over Tofas in the Turkish President's Cup but led his team in scoring with 13 points on 4-for-8 shooting including 2-for-5 from downtown. Fener has secured a spot in the championship round of eight. He plays again Saturday.
In the first day of the Turkish President's Cup, Bogdanovic was Player of the Day, as Fenerbahce beat Mersin, 82-77 and Bogdanovic scored 16, hitting the winning free throws. Play continues Friday and Saturday with the championship round a week from this weekend in Istanbul.
Bojan Bogdanovic led his Fenerbahce Ulker team to victory over Greece's Panathinaikos Sunday, 71-61, scoring 18 points ...and breaking his string of up-and-down games that stretched back to the FIBA Eurobasket championships. In his six preseason games for Fener, he's averaged 15.7 ppg and shot well.
