Jordan Farmar had until midnight Saturday to opt in or out of his $4.25 million contract for 2012-13. Colin Stephenson broke the story with a tweet a little before 7 p.m. While Farmar's salary remains on the Nets cap, it also means that he can be traded starting on July 11, after the moratorium ends.
Nets types offer words like "confident" and "comfortable" when discussing how things look as they move into the draft and free agency, where nothing less than the future of the franchise will be on the line. Best of luck to all of them. Here's a quick look at the key dates coming up, some of which are set in stone, some of which are flexible.
Wednesday night, Amy Williams, Mrs. Deron, posted an image taken of her husband at Barclays Center, perhaps taken earlier Wednesday? ... 10 days before he becomes a free agent.
In the most detailed discussion of Gerald Wallace's contract situation, Sports Xchange reports that the Nets "apparently were aware of Wallace's desire to seek free agency and have put together a contract package, totaling more than $30 million, in an attempt to keep Wallace with the franchise."
In an Instgram post Tuesday, Deron Williams noted that he and Jordan Farmar are driving around Los Angeles, posting an image of a Wilshire Boulevard street sign and writing, "riding around LA w/ @jrfarmar. sources say I'm going to the Lakers now," adding a sarcastic emoticon.

Here's the latest on Deron Williams. He' and Jordan Farmar may very well be on their way to the Barclays Center Tuesday afternoon. Brett Yormark tweeted early in the afternoon, "Rumor has it dwill and farmar visiting barclays center site this afternoon. #hellobrooklyn."
After a disappointing first season with Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv where the former Duke Blue Devils' guard averaged 12 minutes per game, Jon Scheyer has left Maccabi due to "personal reasons" according to the team.

Blake and Randy had huge games, while DJ and Caron were been inneffective. Jordan Farmar used his huge ears to sink a game-winning three pointer with 0.2 seconds left, and that was all she wrote. ...
In the latest edition of "Blindsided", Jordan Farmar takes teammate Shelden Williams to an unconventional yoga instructor. What happens next, which includes wheat grass, instruction in the art of flatulence and an encounter with a boa constrictor named Tinkerbelle really defies further description.
