Armor Jockeying For Playoff Spot

The Armor has clinched a playoff spot but are now looking for homecourt advantage, although a loss Tuesday night hurt them and now a Texas swing won't make it any easier. The Armor are in second place, one game back of the Iowa Energy, in the East, but they lost to the Erie Bayhawks, the Knicks affiliate, which gave Erie a tie breaker.

Hornets Call Up Armor's Jeff Foote

The Springfield Armor announced before Thursday night's game vs. Canton that Jeff Foote was "unavailable". Later, Scott Schroeder tweeted, and the Armor confirmed, that the D-League All-Star had been called up to the Hornets. Armor personnel had seen the seven-footer as the most likely Nets call-up.

Armor Head To D-League Showcase

The Armor goes into the D-League Showcase with an 8-8 record following their loss to the Knicks' D-League affiliate, the Erie BayHawks, in Springfield Saturday. Like their parent club, the Armor shot less than 40% overall. Nets camp invites Jerry Smith and JamesOn Curry led the Armor. Smith has 26 points and 10 rebounds and Curry an increasingly typical 17, 9 and 7 assists.

Nets D-Leaguers Outlast Knicks D-Leaguers in Overtime Contest

The Nets and Knicks D-League affiliates don't have the rivalry their parent clubs have...and will have once the Nets move to Brooklyn. But they certainly showed Thursday night that they enjoy a good barn-burrner. The Armor outlasted the Erie Bayhawks, Allan Houston GM, in a 113-111 thriller in Springfield.

Road Trip Takes Toll on Armor

The Armor return home for New Years' celebrations this weekend after a brutal seven-game, 16-day, 4,600-mile road trip that dropped them from the top spot in the East to a .500 record, their most recent loss coming Friday night in Austin, TX.

Missing Players Catching Up With Armor, Who Lose Third Straight

The loss of its three top players to Nets training camp is finally having an effect on the Springfield Armor. They lost Sunday night for the third straight time to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants in Indiana by a score of 101-84. The loss knocked the Armor out of first place in the D-League East. The Armor had also lost to the Tulsa 66ers on Saturday.

Armor Likely To Fill Out Nets Roster

The Nets won't have to announce their training camp roster until next week but when they do, expect at least two Armor players will join them in East Rutherford. The D-League last week permitted each of its teams to add two players until training camps end. With such short notice the D-League rosters can be mined easily.

Armor Kick-Off Season Friday Night

The Springfield Armor will open their third season --and their first as a Nets hybrid-- in Springfield at 7 p.m. Friday vs. the Maine Red Claws, the Celtics affiliate. The Nets assumed control of basketball operations in May, promoting Milton Lee to GM and hiring Bob MacKinnon and Chris Carawell as coaches.

Armor Pre-Season Underway

Players arrived Wednesday and Thursday with physicals stretched out over two days, starting Thursday. No reports of any problems. The team's first meeting will be Friday. Camp begins Saturday.
