Midseason Awards: Cavaliers First Half MVP #Cavs #NBA
The Indiana Pacers look to end a five-game losing streak when they play New Jersey Nets on Thursday night.
In his weekly diary, Deron Williams takes his fans on a tour of Besiktas, offering views on his teammates, from Cavaliers center Semih Erden to young gun Kartal Ozmizrak, a 16-year-old protege who is one of the youngest pro's in Europe. He also contrasts European practices with those in the NBA.
Deron Williams got his first look at the Nets' second round pick on Sunday and we don't yet know what he thinks, but one thing is for sure: He's not Deron Williams. Williams has become the dominant player in the Turkish League. After a slow start, D-Will's Besiktas has won nine straight, including Sunday's upset of Fenerbahce.
Maybe it was just that he needed another NBA player on his team. That's one possible reason for Deron Williams' improvement over the last three games since Cavaliers center Semih Erden joined Besiktas. D-Will scored 17 points on 6-for-16 shooting (2-for-8 from the arc) and handing out seven assists.
Deron Williams scored 22 points late Thursday night in an exhibition game vs Greece's Olympiacos, but Besiktas lost again, 87-80. It's the most he's scored since joining the Black Eagles a month ago and was a big turnaround from earlier in the week when he scored only seven and Besiktas lost a chance to compete in the EuroCup.
Reviewing Big 12 NBA Draft history, one pick at a time.
Semih Erden's adjustment to the NBA game hasn't been perfect. But he's learning, and for the Celtics the timing couldn't be better.
