The first live televised game of the D-League season on VERSUS didn't disappoint as Brian Hamilton and the Utah Flash upset the top-seeded Iowa Energy at home to force a third and deciding game in their quarterfinal D-League playoff series.

I ranked the Iowa Energy and the Utah Flash as the two worst teams in the D-League playoffs when I did my D-League Playoff power rankings post the other day, but that doesn't mean this series won't be exciting.

Most impressive to me, actually, was the box score of Utah's Tony Gaffney. A surprise pick-up by the Boston Celtics to end last season, Gaffney's been one of the hardest working players in the D-League since he joined the Flash in early January.

Curtis Stinson gets the first star of the game for being the, uh, first star of the game. I've been down on him all season, but it's definitely not due to on-court production. Tonight was no different, as he absolutely led the way for the Energy by scoring 23 points, grabbing 13 rebounds and adding a paltry 11 assists

The Flash defeated the Energy 107-76 in the first game of the series, making this game somewhat crucial for the Energy to come out with some (lower cased) energy. In that game, Brian Hamilton stole the show for me by scoring 18 points and adding 12 rebounds along with four blocks and two steals in 26 minutes of action.

The Energy defeated the Flash 126-112 in their only meeting this season, but a lot has change since then. For instance, Iowa's missing three of their top four scorers (Cartier Martin and Othyus Jeffers have been called-up, Courtney Sims has went overseas) in that game as well as three of their starters. The only big change for the Flash, however, is that Dontell Jefferson is out for the season due to injury.

The playoffs are here, but there are still a lot of questions to be answered: Will anybody else get called up? Who will be assigned to help? Who's hot? Who's not? How monumental was the collapse of the Maine Red Claws leading to them missing the playoffs? Do the D-League playoffs really matter since this league is called the Development League, not the Winning League? Speaking of, who is going to win?
