Ricky Rubio, Derrick Williams Each Named To NBA's All-Rookie Teams

All 30 NBA head coaches have spoken, and Minnesota's pair of standout rookies, Ricky Rubio and Derrick Williams, have each been selected to 2012 NBA All-Rookie Teams.

Rubio, who was given first team honors, was listed on 21 of 30 first team ballots, and only Cleveland point guard Kyrie Irving (29 of 30) received more votes. Rubio becomes the seventh Minnesota rookie to make the first team, following in the footsteps of former Timberwolves point guards Randy Foye and Stephon Marbury.

Williams, the only Minnesota player to see the floor in all 66 games this year, received the 11th highest point total by the rookie scoring system and therefore picked up second team honors. Williams was actually listed on the first team by two coaches, but missed the cut by a significant margin.

VIDEO: Blake Griffin Dunks On The Entire American Airlines Center

There weren't many positives to take away from the 94-75 beating the LA Clippers put on the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night.

It's not that the Mavericks showed up flat with Jason Kidd and Lamar Odom both late scratches; it's that they really didn't show up at all.

Dallas was beaten for every loose ball on both sides of the floor and let Randy Foye (!!) hit eight three-pointers, several of them completely unguarded.

However, the fans at the American Airlines Center did get something from the price of their ticket, in the form of the latest edition to the Blake Griffin dunk compendium:

ESPN's Chris Palmer called it the best dunk of the season on Twitter; I'm not sure I would take it above Griffin's "Superman" of Kendrick Perkins, LeBron's hurdle of John Lucas III or Gerald Green's windmill alley-oop.

But still ... look at how high in the air he catches the ball! He doesn't so much dunk it as spike it through the net.

An excellent display of boxing out by the Mavericks as well.

Ricky Rubio Signs With Timberwolves, Bringing 2009 Wizards Trade Into Focus

According to various reports, Ricky Rubio has agreed to terms with the Minnesota Timberwolves, which means he will be coming over from Spain to play in the NBA during the 2011-12 season. When Rubio was drafted with the fifth overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, nobody was sure he would ever make it to Minnesota. But that fifth pick didn't always belong to the Timberwolves, it came from the Wizards. Soon, we will be able to evaluate what that trade meant.

In June of 2009 the Wizards traded the fifth overall pick (along with Etan Thomas, Darius Songaila and Oleksiy Pecherov) to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Mike Miller and Randy Foye. Both of the players the Wizards got back in the trade were only for the Wizards for one season, and signed with other teams this past Summer.

Now we all know that the 2009 season did not go as planned, so it's hard to really blame Mike Miller and Randy Foye at all, but neither of them brought the impact that an organization would hope it could get from the fifth overall pick. And the fact that just a year later shows just how near sided it was.

So if Ricky Rubio shows anything, and I mean anything, than we'll know it's a bad trade. Especially considering that the Wizards probably would have been very happy to take Rubio at No. 5, because no one expected him to still be on the board.

But it isn't all bad. because the Wizards had such a miserable 2009 season, they got John Wall, who I think will be much better then Rubio when it is all said and done. So maybe it wasn't so bad after all.

VIDEO: Blake Griffin Dunk Of The Night Features More Passing On Tuesday

It's not a night without a Blake Griffin dunk. Fans boo -- even on the road -- when he doesn't put on a show, making him one of the biggest draws in the NBA this year. On Tuesday, Grffin's Los Angeles Clippers hit the floor in Orlando to face the Magic and Griffin delivered. Though it wasn't flashy or powerful, it was a solid effort and, thus, earns the Griffin dunk of the night honors.

Here's Griffin executing a little give-and-go with Randy Foye. The favor is wisely returned by Foye and Griffin finishes the play off with a crisp two-handed jam.

It may not have been an alley-oop or a windmill, but we'll take it. The pass in this case, a one-handed bounce-pass done in a quick and fluid motion, was probably the best part of it all. Just another day in the life of the Blake Show.
