One benefit of the Nets move from the Izod to the Prudential Center comes today as the Nets gather for Thanksgiving dinner in New Jersey. For 24 straight Thanksgivings, the team were on the road. The Meadowlands arena, call it Brendan Byrne, Continental Airlines or Izod, was home this week to an ice show.
If look at the front office staff directory on the Nets' website shows Billy King and Bobby Marks have been busy spending Mikhail Prokhorov's money. Beyond the well-publicized additions to the coaching and scouting staffs, the Nets have quietly been upgrading other parts of the basketball operations staff, putting meat on the bones left by Bruce Ratner.
Nets make it official. Former head coaches Sam Mitchell (Raptors) and Larry Krystkowiak (Bucks) joining the Nets coaching staff as assistants. Popeye Jones, John Loyer and Tom Barrise fill out the staff, the largest in two years.
Although there's been no announcement, Avery Johnson made it clear Wednesday that former Bucks head coach Larry Krystowiak will be on his staff this season. Krystowiak was interviewed two weeks ago for the fifth assistant coaching job.
